Workshop on " Visual Merchandising"

Retail club organized an activity on visual merchandising for PGDM (Retail & Marketing) 2012-14 batch. The motive of the activity was to provide experiential learning of displaying merchandise and attracting customers.

Keeping this in mind, Students were divided in groups and activity was divided in three parts. In first part, each group randomly selected available products (apparel & bags) and created a display. In second part, each group created a display using specific product groups such as Denims, T shirts and so on. In third and final phase, groups were asked to select maximum of eight products of their choice for display.

The primary purpose of visual merchandising is the presentation of products in a way that helps them to be sold quickly and at the highest possible retail margin. Students were able to understand the concept of merchandise presentation challenges like under stock & overstock situations, importance of neat and tidy display through proper folding and relevance of  innovative ideas while presenting merchandise.
Overall, this activity was highly stimulating and provided students with hands on experience of displaying merchandise.
