6th Annual Management Seminar -Surge2K21



Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS) organised its 6th Annual Management Seminar -Surge2K21 on for its undergraduate management  students on 6th March 2021 on the topic “ Tech- Neology in Management: A successful Integration.” The objective of the seminar was to provide insights about the application of technology in various domains of management and how best it can be suitably crafted to meet the business objectives. In this context, we invited industry experts from fintech, digital marketing and operation management to unfold their opinions about tech- neologism. 


Inaugural Ceremony

Dr. Parminder Bajaj(Convener)started the event Dr. Praveen Arora, Dean IP formally welcomed the resource persons and the audience. Dr. Pooja Jain, Director was shared her insights on the use of technology in Management.

Technical Session I

Mr. Anupam Malhotra(Enterprise Sales Manager, Whatfix, Bangalore). He talked about Insurtech i.e. the role of Artificial intelligence in insurance industry. The main highlights of his discussion was: 

  1. How AI can manage the risk of the policyholders and how it can help in pricing decisions.

  2. How insurance industry are using IOT through telematics and how information is stored on cloud.

  3. He explained how due to modern technology in insurance the accuracy has increased and the errors are eliminated.

Mr. Anand Kumar Tripathi (Scrum Master, Greater Cincinnati foundation, USA)talked about the fintech industry. Main highlights were;

  1. The boom in the e-commerce sector has driven the use of online payments and e-wallets, and on the other hand, increasing demand for crypto currency has decreased the Initial Coin Offerings (ICO), which is driving the FinTech  market.

  2. He also discussed about Disruptive business models and shared economy.

  3. Advances in robotics and AI will start a wave of ‘re-shoring’ and localisation.

Technical Session II

Mr. Navneet Pandey ( Business Analyst, Magic Finserv) initiated second technical session. He started with the success story of Asian paints, how technology helped them effectively execute their business processes and provided consumer data to take business decisions. He also told the students about interesting business in Fintech application and also guided on how students can be the part of this industry.

Mr . Lalit Agrawal(AVP, Standard Chartered), made the session interactive, by engaging the students on the topic “Project Management Practices and talked about the triple constraints of project management i.e. Time, Scope and Cost which are directly proportional to each other and must have a balance between them. Further he answered about “Effective ways to handle Project Management”, “Automating the manual process”, all the tools required for the process like QI tools, Automatic Text Tools, CI/CD Tools, Web Services ,Robotics Process.

Overall the session was very informative and useful to the students and their queries were very well handled by the resource persons. The event ended with the vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Parminder Bajaj.
