The Academic Club successfully organized a Case Study Competition on 22 October 2026. Of the 40 teams that registered from across all courses, 20 teams reported on the day of the event.
The first screening round began at 10:30 AM and consisted of 25 multiple-choice questions on the business models of startups such as Blinkit, Bluesmart, GoMechanic, etc. Based on their scores, 11 teams advanced to the second screening round, which was held at 10:50 AM. The format remained the same, but with full negative marking applied. At the conclusion of this round, five teams were shortlisted for the main event.
The five shortlisted teams were given a case study on the Indian startup Unacademy, which is facing losses due to competition from peers and poor retention of existing students. Teams were asked to develop a three-year growth and profitability strategy, with particular attention to four areas: (a) conversion, turning trial users into paying learners; (b) retention, improving engagement over time; (c) profitability, achieving sustainable growth; and (d) competition, differentiating from both online and offline players. Teams were allotted 75 minutes to prepare their solutions.
The final round commenced at 1:30 PM before a panel of judges comprising Dr. Poonam Aggarwal (Associate Professor, JIMS, Sector 5) and Dr. Megha Sharma (Assistant Professor, JIMS, Sector 5). Each team presented its strategy using a PowerPoint presentation. The judges posed a series of questions to assess the feasibility of the proposed solutions in real-world conditions. Performance was evaluated and recorded on a 100-mark scale, and the two highest-scoring teams were selected for prizes and certificates.
