The Internal hackathon for Smart India Hackathon (SIH 2025) was successfully organized at JIMS, Rohini on 20th September 2025 under the convenorship of Ms. Deepika (IIC Convenor & SPOC). A total of 25 teams participated, presenting 26 problem statements, including 25 software-based and 1 hardware-based solution. The event commenced with registration at 9:00 AM, followed by the inauguration and briefing of rules and guidelines.
In Round 1, participants showcased their problem statements and proposed solutions through PPT presentations before two judging panels. In Round 2, shortlisted teams demonstrated their prototypes, which were evaluated on innovation, feasibility, and technical soundness. The event was mentored by faculty members including Ms. Deepika, Dr. Akanksha Upadhyaya, Dr. Shivani Vats, Dr. Deepti Khanna, and Ms. Vaishali.
The winners of the hackathon are
- Team Metal Minds, secured 1st position for their AI-driven LCA tool under the Ministry of Mines.
Idea title: EcoMetrix - AI-Driven LCA Tool for Circularity in Metallurgy & Mining
Description: EcoMetrix is a proprietary, AI-powered Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) tool engineered to solve the data and cost challenges in the metallurgy and mining industries. It replaces slow, expert-dependent manual assessments with fast, affordable, and standardized reports, accelerating the shift from a linear "take-make-dispose" model to a circular economy. The tool’s core innovation is its Decision Support Engine. It uses Scikit-learn to predict missing LCA parameters (like emission factors), overcoming data scarcity. It employs OR-Tools for multi-objective optimization, which identifies the most efficient process pathway to balance environmental impact (CO2 eq.), cost, and resource efficiency. EcoMetrix also calculates precise Circularity Indicators and uses a LangChain AI chat agent for user guidance. This ensures clear, actionable insights that can lead to significant reductions in waste (up to 85%) and substantial operational cost savings.
- Team While True Coding, won the 2nd position for Crowdsourced Civic issue Reporting and Resolution System under the Government of Jharkhand.
Idea title: Clean & Green Technology
Description: Cities struggle with unreported or delayed civic issues like potholes, garbage, and broken lights. Citizens lack an easy, transparent way to report and track such problems. Proposed Solution is amobile-first civic issue reporting platform with a web-based admin dashboard that streamlines the flow: Report → Assign → Resolve → Feedback → Analytics. Smart Auto-Routing: AI detects issue type (via text/voice) and assigns it to the right department using GPS. Priority Scoring: Issues ranked as Low–Critical based on urgency, location, and report volume. Transparency: Before/after proof stored securely (IPFS/Blockchain) to prevent fake closures. Citizen Engagement: Upvotes, badges, and live notifications keep users involved. Analytics: Heatmaps, trends, and performance tracking for better governance. Scalability: Async jobs and CDN media handling ensure smooth performance during heavy load. Tech Stack - Flutter / React Native, Node.js, Express.js, PostgreSQL, AI (NLP), Map APIs, and cloud storage (AWS/IPFS). Impact - Bridges citizens and authorities for faster issue resolution, cleaner cities, and more accountable governance.
Additionally, 10 more teams were shortlisted to submit their ideas on the SIH 2025 portal. Rest all the teams will be further mentored by the mentors. The event successfully provided a platform for students to innovate, showcase their creativity, and prepare for the national-level SIH 2025.
