Pre-Placement Workshop on ATS-Friendly Resume Writing


A Pre-Placement Activity on the topic “ATS-friendly Resume Writing” was successfully conducted on 9th April 2026 from 12:00 noon to 1:00 PM in Room B302 for BCA Second Year students (Both Shifts). The session was organized under the convenorship of Dr. Geeta Sharma. The resource person for the session was Pawan Kumar from T.I.M.E. Education.

The activity aimed to prepare students for the placement process by helping them understand the importance of creating professional and ATS-compatible resumes. A total of 108 students actively participated in the session. The speaker explained how modern companies use Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to shortlist resumes and emphasized the need for proper formatting, relevant keywords, concise content, and professional presentation.  During the session, students were guided on the essential components of an effective resume, including career objectives, educational qualifications, technical skills, internships, projects, certifications, and achievements. The resource person also highlighted common mistakes students make while preparing resumes and demonstrated techniques to improve resume visibility during online screening processes.

Interactive discussions and practical examples made the session highly engaging and informative. Students gained valuable insights into tailoring resumes according to job descriptions and industry expectations. The session concluded with a question-answer round where students clarified their doubts regarding resume formats, skills representation, and placement preparation.

Objectives of the Activity

  1. To familiarize students with the concept and importance of ATS-friendly resumes in modern recruitment processes.
  2. To guide students in preparing professional and industry-oriented resumes for placement opportunities.
  3. To enhance students’ employability skills by improving resume writing techniques and presentation standards.

Outcomes of the Activity

  1. Students understood the working and significance of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) in recruitment.
  2. Participants learned how to structure and format resumes professionally for better screening results.
  3. Students became aware of common resume-writing mistakes and methods to avoid them.
  4. The session improved students’ confidence and preparedness for future placement and internship opportunities.
