The Budget Session Panel Discussion was conceptualized and conducted as an academic engagement activity for the students of B.A. Economics (Hons.) first and second year. The event aimed to cultivate informed economic discourse and deepen students’ understanding of Budget 2026, which was presented on 1 February. By simulating a structured policy discussion environment, the activity sought to strengthen analytical thinking, articulation, and real-time policy evaluation skills among participants.
The session witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across both academic years. To ensure inclusive engagement, one panel was constituted as a combined panel comprising first-year students, while two additional panels were organized shift-wise for the respective groups. This structure enabled broad participation while maintaining focused and meaningful discussions within each panel.
Participants engaged in a comprehensive examination of the major announcements, sectoral allocations, and fiscal priorities outlined in Budget 2026. Each panel discussion revolved around key themes such as growth strategy, social sector spending, taxation changes, and implications for employment and development. The format encouraged dynamic peer-to-peer interaction, where panelists posed questions, responded to viewpoints, and built upon each other’s arguments using economic reasoning and contemporary context.
The interactive nature of the discussion enabled students to articulate perspectives, address counterpoints, and demonstrate conceptual clarity in real time. Emphasis remained on the depth of budget analysis, logical coherence of arguments, clarity in expression, and the ability to engage constructively within the panel setting.
The session successfully created a vibrant academic environment that fostered collaborative learning and informed debate. Students demonstrated strong awareness of current economic developments along with notable confidence in policy interpretation and communication. The diversity of viewpoints across panels reflected thoughtful engagement and critical thinking, making the activity a meaningful experiential learning opportunity for all participants.
