Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Rohini Sector-5, affiliated with GGSIP University, organized an International Seminar on “Unlocking International Opportunities: PG Study Guide for Economics Students” to provide clear and structured guidance for pursuing higher education abroad. The seminar proved highly beneficial, equipping students with practical knowledge, strategic direction, and greater confidence to explore global academic pathways.
The session featured two distinguished speakers: Ms. Anahita Sawhney, Analytics Reporter at ION and alumna of Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, and Ms. Divya Madan, MSc Development Studies (AED) from the London School of Economics and former Deputy Manager at Kotak Mahindra Bank. Drawing from their international academic and professional experiences, they offered valuable real-world insights that deeply resonated with students.
A key benefit of the seminar was the clarity students gained about selecting appropriate universities and courses. The speakers emphasized aligning academic interests with long-term career goals rather than focusing solely on rankings. They explained how to evaluate institutions based on curriculum, faculty, research opportunities, global exposure, and employability outcomes. Detailed guidance on the application process was also provided, including writing effective Statements of Purpose, obtaining strong Letters of Recommendation, and preparing for entrance exams such as IELTS, GRE, and GMAT. Students learned about ideal preparation timelines and the importance of early planning.
Financial planning was another important focus area. The speakers discussed tuition fees, scholarships, education loans, and living expenses, helping students understand how studying abroad can be financially manageable with proper preparation. The interactive session allowed students to ask questions about visas, internships, post-study work opportunities, and career prospects. Overall, the seminar was informative, engaging, and empowering, providing students with valuable knowledge and motivation to confidently pursue postgraduate education abroad.
