Objective of the Event:
The objective of conducting a Hands-on Robotics Workshop for school students is to provide them with practical exposure and foundational knowledge in robotics, while fostering creativity, problem-solving, and interest in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)
On 8th April 2025 JIMS IIC organized an insightful and knowledgeable Intensive hands-on robotics workshop in the presence of dignitaries like Mr. Utkarsh Ahuja, regional manager under NITI Aayog and the resource person for the workshop was Ms. Bhavna Galhotra, Assistant Professor at JIMS.
Organized under the Atal Innovation Mission and Institution’s Innovation Council initiatives, the workshop brought together top-performing students and faculty members from various schools in the Northwest Redline Cluster. The event aimed to ignite young minds with innovation and hands- on experience in the field of robotics, promoting practical learning and inter-institutional collaboration.
Participants enthusiastically engaged in the hands-on sessions, where they explored the fundamentals of robotics, its operations, and the application of various components to build functional robotic models. The students worked in teams to design and assemble different robot prototypes, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills. The workshop was highly interactive, with the resource person delivering in-depth knowledge and offering intellectual guidance throughout the day. Both students and faculty members showed great enthusiasm and curiosity, making the learning experience enriching and memorable.
Towards the end of the workshop, certificates of appreciation were distributed to all the participating students and faculty members in recognition of their active involvement. Feedback forms were also collected to gather valuable insights about the event's effectiveness. Overall, the workshop was a great success — it provided a solid foundation in robotics for the participants and encouraged innovation-driven thinking in a collaborative environment. The successful execution of this workshop not only highlighted the importance of practical learning in today’s educational landscape but also strengthened the bonds between institutions within the Northwest Redline Cluster. Events like these play a crucial role in nurturing young talent, fostering innovation, and building a culture of curiosity and experimentation among students. It set a positive precedent for future collaborative initiatives aimed at empowering the next generation of innovators and technologists.

Learning Outcomes:
The Robotics Workshop will equip the students with the clear understanding of the basic components and functioning of robots, including sensors. They will gain hands-on experience in assembling and programming simple robotic systems, applying logical and computational thinking to solve real-world problems. Through collaborative activities, students will enhance their teamwork and communication skills while connecting STEM concepts to practical applications. The workshop will also foster creativity, innovation, and curiosity by encouraging students to design, build, and present their own robotic projects. Overall, participants will develop a strong foundation in robotics, increased confidence in handling technology, and a deeper interest in science and engineering.
LAUNCH OF NORTHWEST REDLINE CLUSTER
The Atal Saarthi Initiative is a program launched by NITI Aayog under its flagship Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) to support and strengthen Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) across India. The word “Saarthi” means “charioteer” or “guide”, and the initiative is designed to serve as a guiding force for ATLs, helping them function more effectively and deliver better innovation outcomes for students. The initiative introduces a mentor support framework where various partners and organizations work with schools to guide them in operationalizing and scaling up ATL activities. The objective of this cluster is also to enhance the effectiveness, inclusiveness, and impact of Atal Tinkering Labs by providing structured mentorship and operational guidance, ensuring that students across the country have the opportunity to innovate and develop 21st- century skills.
Under this initiative, the Clusterification of Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs)is done which is a strategic initiative under the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) by NITI Aayog to improve collaboration, support, and resource-sharing among ATLs by grouping them into manageable regional clusters.
The 8th April marks the launch of Northwest Redline Cluster with the Jagan Institute of Management Studies, Rohini being awarded with Nodal agency for this cluster of 16 schools. This cluster was proposed by Regional Mentor of Change - Delhi, Utkarsh Ahuja to AIM NITI Aayog post which this was established. We received an official letter of approval from the AIM NITI Aayog. This cluster has been made using GIS Technology for the purpose that it is quite near to fellow schools and internal administration and participation becomes easy as each school is hardly 10 minutes away from the Redline Metro, hence the name.
The launch of the ATAL Saarthi initiative took place in the conference room, marking a new chapter in collaborative innovation for schools in the region.
The session began with a brief introduction to the ATAL Saarthi framework, emphasizing its goal of strengthening Atal Tinkering Labs (ATLs) through mentorship and cluster-based support. Dr. Praveen Arora delivered a warm Welcome Address, followed by Dr. Priyanka Gandhi who introduced the Institution Innovation Council (IIC) and its role in promoting a culture of innovation.
The highlight of the event was the formal announcement of the Northwest Red Line Cluster by Mr. Utkarsh, Regional Mentor of NITI Aayog, who also shared insights into the vision and roadmap of the Clusterification strategy. The event is also graced by Mr. Suman Pandit, innovation Head , Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, who explained the purpose behind the formation of cluster and also highlights the success through Clusterification in southwest part of India.
Further enriching the event were the insights shared by ATL in-charges from participating schools, reflecting their on-ground experiences and aspirations. The event concluded with a networking High Tea session.
The combined events were a resounding success—empowering students with hands-on learning while laying the foundation for stronger collaboration among ATLs in the Northwest Delhi region. The day truly reflected the spirit of innovation, mentorship, and shared growth envisioned
