The Department of Information Technology at JIMS, Rohini proudly hosted its 10th Annual InfoTech Symposium, TechnoWhiz 2025, on April 12, 2025. Themed "Generative AI: The Creator or Destroyer for Careers", this year's symposium explored the disruptive yet transformative potential of generative AI technologies across industries and career landscapes.
The day-long event began with the registration session at 9:00 am where 156 students of JIMS and 17 students from neighbouring colleges registered to attend the event, followed by an engaging Inaugural and Technical Session I. The program opened with an ice-breaking segment and a soulful Saraswati Vandana. A warm welcome address was delivered by Dr. Praveen Arora, Principal of IPU-affiliated programs at JIMS.
The session featured two insightful technical talks:
- Mr. Atul Tripathi, Hon. Adjunct Fellow at the National Maritime Foundation, spoke on the evolving intersection of AI and national infrastructure. He highlighted government’s concerns about rapidly growing frauds by using deep fake and artificial intelligence. He also encouraged students to contact him if they can design and offer a solution for these problems
- Mr. Himanshu Wadia, Director of PgM IT Innovation and Automation at Amdocs, shared real-world insights into AI-led innovation in corporate ecosystems. He highlighted the use of generative AI in telecom sector and encouraged students to look for new emerging career options with AI.
The session also witnessed the release of the Annual IT Department Magazine – Echelon, capturing the academic and technological spirit of the department. All student contributors for Echelon, and chief coordinators of Technowhiz were also rewarded with mementos for their excellent work.
After a brief networking break over high tea, the Technical Session II commenced. This session welcomed:
- Mr. Jitu Singh Mandla, Head of Knowledge Management at Khaitan & Co, who highlighted AI's impact on legal tech and information management. He also mentioned about the use of generative AI in legal departments and how an ordinary person and law firms are actually using AI to prepare litigations and defence.
- Mr. Deepak Saini, Vice-President at COFORGE, who spoke about generative AI's role in enterprise transformation. He discussed about the technical aspects of generative AI and the technologies required for a beginner to adapt.
The symposium concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Shivani Vats, Assistant Professor and Convener of TechnoWhiz 2025. Her acknowledgment of the guest speakers, participants, faculty, and student volunteers underscored the collaborative spirit that made the event a success. The day ended with a networking lunch, providing attendees an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and explore potential collaborations.
TechnoWhiz 2025 successfully brought together academia and industry under one roof, igniting thought-provoking discussions around the future of AI and its implications on career landscapes. The symposium not only inspired students and professionals alike but also reinforced JIMS's commitment to fostering innovation and thought leadership in the IT domain.
