JIMS Rohini Organized INDUSTRIAL VISIT TO PARLE INDUSTRIES (KOHINOOR BISCUITS)


Objective of the Event:

The objective of the industrial visit to Parle-G Manufacturing Unit, Sector-63, Noida, was to provide students with practical exposure to large-scale biscuit production and real-time industrial processes. It aimed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and industry practices, enhancing their understanding of manufacturing, quality control, and supply chain operations in the FMCG sector.

An industrial visit to Parle Industries, Sector-63, Noida, was organized on April 4, 2025, for the students of BBA first year. The students assembled at the JIMS Campus front gate at 7:30 AM and departed for the visit at around 8:00 AM. The students were accompanied by two faculty members.

The Career Development Cell of Jagan Institute of organized a highly informative industrial visit to the Parle-G manufacturing unit located in Sector-63, Noida, on 4th April 2024. The visit was part of an educational initiative aimed at enhancing practical knowledge and bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world industrial practices. A total of 27 students from BBA, participated along with 2 faculty members.

The purpose of this visit was to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing processes involved in biscuit production, right from raw material procurement to packaging and distribution. It offered valuable exposure to modern industrial operations and production techniques.

Upon arrival at the facility, the group was welcomed by Mr. Mahesh Aggarwal, Industrial Visit Coordinator at Parle Industries. He introduced the company’s legacy, mission, and dedication to quality and innovation through a brief orientation and video presentation. This set the stage for an engaging and educational experience.

During the visit, students explored the Processing Plant and Packaging Plant for biscuits, gaining a comprehensive view of the factory's internal operations. Students were then divided into smaller groups and guided through the factory premises. They observed each stage of the production process in detail, including:

  • Raw material storage and handling
  • Mixing and dough preparation
  • Baking and cooling
  • Quality control measures
  • Automated packaging systems
  • Marketing and distribution channels

Mr. Mahesh Aggarwal also explained Students about the entire manufacturing journey—from the preparation of dough to the final packaging stage—all carried out through highly efficient automated machinery. The group also visited the Printing Department, where they learned about the labeling and branding processes. It was fascinating to witness how lakhs of products can be manufactured within a minute, reflecting the plant’s high level of efficiency. The factory maintained an environment that was aesthetic, pure, and hygienic. Students also learned how Parle-G products, known for their affordability, are distributed even to the most remote corners of the country, emphasizing the brand's wide reach and accessibility.

Throughout the visit, students gained valuable insights into the scale and complexity of operations required to maintain quality and efficiency in a leading FMCG brand like Parle. The company’s emphasis on sustainability, hygiene, and continuous innovation left a lasting impression on all participants.

This visit not only enhanced students’ academic understanding but also inspired them to explore career opportunities in manufacturing, operations, and supply chain management.

Learning Outcomes:

The visit enabled students to gain firsthand knowledge of the biscuit manufacturing process, including raw material handling, production, quality control, and packaging. They understood how theoretical concepts in operations and supply chain management are applied in real industrial settings. The experience also highlighted the importance of innovation, hygiene, and sustainability in the FMCG industry.
