JIMS Rohini organised Competency Mapping: Assessment and Development Centers

Ms Rashmi Singh, Head HR conducted a very informative and value adding session on "Competency Mapping: Assessment and Development Centers” at Jagan Institute of Management Studies (JIMS, Rohini Sector-5) on 26th November, 2022 for the Contemporary Issues In HR (CIHR) final year Elective students.

Competencies have been defined as “a measurable pattern of knowledge, skill, abilities, behaviors, and other characteristics that an individual needs to perform work roles or occupational functions successfully.

A clear distinction between skill and a competency through an ice-breaker activity created a lot of excitement in the class. The program conducted in the workshop mode helped students internalize the intricacies of Competency, Models, Frame works, Tools and Techniques and the its importance in the evaluation, development and succession planning. These contemporary concepts were reinforced through insightful experience sharing by the faculty.

The students also learned the various facets of Leadership Core Competencies and what it takes to become an effective leader. Managing oneself, managing projects, managing people, managing programs, and ultimately leading an organization can be developed by using the Assessment and Development Centers. The individual development plans thus formulated can facilitate in developing the key competencies to create an effective succession plan.

The sessions ware very interesting and received very well by the participants of the program.
