As part of the Research Talk Series, FPM Department at JIMS, Rohini organized an Experience Sharing session by Ms. Vartika Varyani, Research Scholar at IIM, Indore on 13th August 2022 in a hybrid mode. The session started with a welcome address by our research scholar, Ms. Shabnam. Thereafter, Ms. Namrata, research scholar, JIMS Rohini felicitated Ms. Vartika with a flower bouquet. Ms. Vartika began the session with an introduction round wherein the scholars were asked to introduce themselves and brief about their current stages in Ph.D. Subsequently, she shared her research journey right from the stage of generating a research idea to the research topic finalization and then moved on to discuss the progress reviews and the challenges faced by her at different stages of her doctoral work. She also discussed the various statistical tools and software that can be used by research scholars during their research journey. Later, she shared a list of renowned journals on which she has been focusing for her research publications and further motivated the scholars to consider them for future publications. Moreover, she explained how to respond to the reviewer’s comments on a research paper and illustrated it through a sample response sheet prepared by her. As a doctoral student, she was able to instantaneously strike a chord with the scholars, which triggered lots of queries leading to an exhaustive and candid discussion. She concluded the session by suggesting solutions to the challenges faced by research scholars and even deliberated on some do’s and don’ts to be followed during the research work. Overall, the scholars found the session quite enriching as the learnings acquired would go a long way in shaping their research journey.
