JIMS Rohini Organized Panel Discussion iTHINK 2K22 on The contentious issue of taxing Virtual Digital Asset


Jagan Institute of Management Studies organised the panel discussion-iThink 2k22 on the topic “The contentious issue of taxing Virtual Digital Asset” for the undergraduate management students of BBA (1st Year) on March 4, 2022 where the students of BBA participated as panellists. The event was organised under the guidance of Dr. Jyotsna Oswal-Convener iThink Events.

The objective of this Panel discussion was to give insights about the application of taxation related clauses on Crypto Currency. The Panellists of the discussion were Parth Aggarwal, Ruchi Dua, Dhairya Kharbanda, Gaurav Arora and Yukta Arora from BBA 1st Year. The moderator of the discussion was Ujjwal Gupta from BBA 1st Year. The coordinator and the organiser of the event was Utkarsh Verma from BBA 2nd Year.

The discussion was initiated by the moderator with a brief introduction about the topic of the panel discussion. The discussion was carried on by the panellists further highlighting various aspects of the Crypto Currency, Taxation, Legalities and related factors. Parth Aggarwal explained the history and a crisp introduction to Bitcoin. Ruchi Dua explained the working of the bitcoin and blockchain cycle and compared the allocation of past and present years. Dhairya Kharbanda presented forth the facts which are associated with the taxation of the Crypto Currency. Gaurav Arora explained the audience the legalities that are associated with the Virtual Digital Assets with respect to Indian Government. Towards the end, Yukta Arora highlighted the various issues that are bound to come in the implementation part of the Taxation Bar. The Moderator-Ujjwal Gupta made the discussion engaging and interesting by asking burning questions to the panel. 

It was a Student-Centred Panel Discussion where the students articulated their thoughts by presenting their opinions in front of their peers so as to enhance their speaking ability, verbal confidence and also develop higher order thinking skills that will lead them to analyse and interpret information rather than regurgitating mere facts. 

A QnA round by the audience was followed by the panel discussion where the audience pointed questions which were well-answered by the panellists. All the participants were appreciated by the dean- Dr. Praveen Arora and the Convener- Dr. Jyotsna Oswal with the Certificates of Appreciation. The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by the organiser-Utkarsh Verma. The event was well co-ordinated and organized under the guidance of Dr. Jyotsna Oswal- Convener iThink Events.
