International Conference 2013 on “Exploring the Soul of Business-An Eternal Sustainer" on 9th February, 2013

At IIC, Max Mueller Marg, New Delhi.

Jagan Institute of Management Studies organized its 3rd International Conference  on Saturday, 9th February, 2013.


The day-long proceedings began with the Conference inauguration. The chief guest Dr. R.S Dhankar, Dean, FMS, DU and guest of honor - Mr. Pradeep Bakshi, COO, UPBG, Voltas Ltd, were extended a warm welcome by Dr. J K Goyal (Director, JIMS). The Conference Convener, Dr. Deepti Pathak (Associate Professor, JIMS) threw the conference open by giving an introduction to the theme of conference. The chief guest and guest of honor also shared their views on the Conference theme.

This was followed by the release of the Conference Proceeding by Dr. R.S Dhankar, Dean, FMS, DU, Mr. Pradeep Bakshi, COO, UPBG, Voltas Ltd., Sh. Manish Gupta, Chairman, JIMS, Dr. J K Goyal (Director, JIMS), reviewers of the papers Dr. Suresh Aggarwal, (Professor, Department of Business Economics, Delhi University), and Prof. S.K.Singh, Retd.), SOSS, IGNOU, New Delhi to a huge applause. Dr. Madan Mohan (Dean, JIMS) extended the vote of thanks to all the guests and experts of the inaugural.

This was followed by a panel discussion on ‘Exploring the Soul of Business- An Eternal Sustainer. The experts on the panel who discussed on the theme included Mr. Udai Upendra, CEO, The HR Company; Dr. V.P Singh, Executive Director-HR,RJ Corp/DIL, Dr. Jaswinder Singh, Principal, SGTB Khalsa College, Mr.Pradeep Katyal, CEO, Utsav Fashion Pvt. Ltd,  and Dr. O.P Chopra, Dean (Retd), FMS, DU.

An open house exchange of questions by the audience and answers by these experts gave the session a participatory dimension. Dr. Sumesh Raizada (Dean-Retail, JIMS) extended the vote of thanks to all the guests and experts of the panel discussion.

Paper presentations by participants from all over were held in the form of technical sessions in parallel tracks viz. - Track 1 on Marketing: A Guiding Light was chaired by Prof. Ashok Shukla, Professor, Avadh University, Faizabad).
This track had papers presented like Marketing: A strategic approach to fill perception gap between customer and business; the new age technology for developing consumer-brand relationship-An Empirical Approach, Buying Behaviour of Green Consumers and its impact of Environmental Sustainability, Digital Branding- A Competitive Differentiator, Viral Marketing: An Imperative Not an option.
Track 2 on Human Interaction: A Success Factor was chaired by Dr J.B Singh, Principal, SGGS College of Commerce, DU).  This track had papers presented like The Dynamics of Human Resource Management in Indian Domestic BPO Industry, Human Interaction; A Success Factor, Impact of Career Advancement Strategies on Employee Engagement Employee Engagement A Pragmatic Approach for Employee Empowerment Work Life Balance: A Survey of Women Executives in Indian Organizations.
Track 3 on Legal and  Macro-Economic Sustainers was chaired by Dr M.S Rawat, DCAC College, DU.
This track had papers presented like Employee Engagement: A key to talent retention, Seasoned Equity Offerings: Empirical Evidence from India, Ethics and Business, Corporate Social Responsibility in Small Enterprises of Ajmer District: An Empirical Study", Sustainability of Higher Educational Institutes through Quality Management Processes adapted for making students employable. Also, the student interjectors at the session were awarded track wise best papers like :
Track I: Kumar Abhishek, PGDM-Retail
Track II: Nikita Singh, PGDM-Gen (Sec-C)
Track III: Yogesh Pandey, PGDM-Gen (Sec-C)


All the chairpersons of the technical sessions and the paper presenters were thanked and honored in the valedictory session. The Conference concluded with the thanksgiving session was the essence of the conference was taken forward and admired where truly exploring the soul of business was termed as an eternal sustainer.
