Session on "Campus to Corporate Retail Perspective"

An inspiring and motivating session was organized for the students of PGDM – Retail & Marketing, on Saturday, 27th July, 2013, conducted by Ms. Varsha Bhala, Manager -HR, Madura Fashion and Lifestyle.
Ms Varsha highlighted the current trends of the Retail sector and its manpower requirements. She stated that there is a high demand in rural retailing as well, apart from hyper markets and organized retail. Indian consumer is travelling extensively and customer service today has, therefore, become extremely important. Besides this, firms are becoming more youth oriented in the product and promotions. She highlighted the aspects of StoreOperations, training and HR Qualities and defined the recruitment process. She explained the hierarchy of a retail sector and its brand structure. She also stressed on some of the attributes that a student should possess at the time of selection i.e. Leadership, Teamwork, Self Confidence, Influence, Attitude, Service Orientation, Data analysis, creating grid, in store training, out of the box thinking and predicting fashion sense.
Overall, it was a session well appreciated!!
