The Institute Innovation Council (IIC) of JIMS organized an insightful visit to the Pre-Incubation Unit – AICTE IDEA Lab at GGSIP University, Dwarka on 19th February, 2025, aimed at fostering awareness about innovation, technology application, and real-world problem-solving among students. The visit served as a significant step in understanding the journey from idea to ideation, where participants explored how a simple thought can evolve into a workable and scalable solution through structured innovation practices.

The visit provided an enriching experience, allowing students to understand the process of identifying real-life problems and developing effective solutions using emerging technologies. The atmosphere within the lab reflected a culture of collaboration, innovation, and creativity, where ideas are constantly being tested, refined, and transformed into prototypes. Students witnessed how gathering a multidisciplinary team with domain-specific skills plays a vital role in turning concepts into viable innovations.

One of the major highlights of the visit was experiencing the 24/7 functional lab environment, which allows students and innovators to work round-the-clock on their projects. Various video demonstrations of functional models left a lasting impact on the participants.

Some of the key innovations showcased included:

  • Smart Dust Collector
  • Smart Irrigation System
  • Surveillance Vehicles
  • Drone for Pollution Control
  • Autocart – A Smart Trolley System with Theft Detection
  • Patient Health Monitoring System

These projects illustrated the real-world application of technology, proving how innovation can directly impact industries like healthcare, agriculture, security, and environment. Additionally, students witnessed the practical working of advanced tools and machines such as the 3D Printing Machine, CNC Router, and Engraving Machine, which demonstrated the technical depth and prototyping capabilities available at the IDEA Lab.

The visit emphasized the importance of hands-on learning and team-based problem-solving approaches, encouraging students to move beyond theory and engage actively in developing technology-based solutions for societal challenges. The overall experience bridged the gap between academic learning and practical implementation, strengthening the participants & understanding of how innovation ecosystems operate and thrive.

The session concluded with an interactive discussion on the importance of mentorship, collaboration, and future participation in such innovation-driven platforms, encouraging students to take the first step toward impactful startups and contributing to a self-reliant India.
