JIMS, Rohini organized Coaching & Mentoring Session on 15th November, 2022

The session very interesting and value adding session was conducted by Ms. Shruti Swaroop on Coaching and Mentoring on 15th November, 2022 at the JIMS campus. This was a part of the Contemporary Issues in HR (CIHR) elective for PGDM Batch (2021-23) HR Students. Ms Shruti is the Founder Embrace Consulting and is a TEDx Speaker. She is an Executive Coach and Diversity Inclusion Consultant.

The session was highly interactive and focused on its meaning and its application in the corporate world. The key takeaways included - Both the terms are used interchangeably, but they are very different. While coaching focusses on aggressive questioning by the coach, mentoring includes giving constructive feedback from the mentor which is one way. Coaching is Job Agnostic, whereas mentoring is Job-specific.  Coaching is behavioral in nature, Mentoring, on the other hand, is advisory. Organizations having formal Coaching and mentoring institutionalized attain higher levels of excellence. 

The famed GROW Model of Coaching, wherein G- Goal, R-Reality, O-Options, W-What happens was deliberated in depth along with real life instances to internalize the learning of the concept. The importance of Coaching and Mentoring in the corporate world to make the workplace positive stress free and creating organizational excellence was also highlighted.
