JIMS Rohini organized a guest lecture on the topic- ‘Insights on Corporate Practices in Performance Management’ for the second-year PGDM, HR specialization students on 20th August 2022. The speaker for the session was Ms. Srishti Sharma, People Analytics Manager, Vistra International Expansion (India) Pvt Ltd. (JIMS Alumna, PGDM 2011-13 Batch).

With her rich experience in HR across different industries, she helped the students to get an insight into how performance management plays a vital role in every organisation. Various key aspects related to performance management were covered throughout the session. She started the session by explaining the concept of performance appraisal and then moved on to how companies have started preferring two cycles of appraisals so that employees have enough time to improve their performance. 
 
She explained the process of performance planning in detail which starts with setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound) goals for employees by assigning them job responsibilities and providing them frequent feedback to help them improve their performance. Furthermore, she talked about how to prepare KRAs (Key Result Areas) for an employee. Moreover, she highlighted the significance of broadly defining the job role and ensuring that the goals are job fit for formulating justifiable KRAs. She also showed several sample appraisal formats and explained how each criteria is formed and measured to analyze employee performance. She emphasized that every company can have different criteria for making and analyzing their appraisal forms depending on the strategic goals of the company.   

Overall, the session was highly appreciated by the students as they gained deeper insights into the concept of Performance Management and how it is being practically implemented in the industry in current times.
