JIMS Rohini Organized Panel Discussion iTHINK 2K22 on Government giving weightage to Mental Health in the Budget 2022-23


Jagan Institute of Management Studies organised the panel discussion-iThink 2k22 on the topic “Government giving weightage to Mental Health in the Budget 2022-23” for the undergraduate management students of BBA (2nd and 3rd Year) on February 18, 2022 where the students of BBA participated as panellists. The event was organised under the guidance of Ms. Jyotsna Oswal-Convener.

The objective of this Panel discussion was to give insights about the inclusion of mental health in union budget and the allocated amount. The Panellists of the discussion were Shyna Gupta, Ujjwal Goel, Diksha Sangal, Mehak Kandhway and Harsh Bothra from BBA Final Year. The moderator of the discussion was Utkarsh Verma from BBA 2nd Year. The coordinators of the event were Utkarsh Verma and Rahul Arora.

The discussion was initiated by the moderator with a brief introduction about the topic of the panel discussion. The discussion was carried on by the panellists further highlighting various aspects of the inclusion of mental health in union budget and related factors. Shyna Gupta related the mental health allocation to Covid 19 and related impacts on the society. Ujjwal Goel further explained the allocation of the amount to mental health in the budget in detail comparing the allocation of past and present years. Diksha Sangal presented forth the advantages and disadvantages that are associated with the allocation. Mehak Kandhway suggested to the audience the ways of improving the mental health and related strategies to combat with it. Towards the end, Harsh Bothra highlighted the various issues that are bound to come in the implementation part of the planned budget allocation. The Moderator-Utkarsh Verma made the discussion engaging and interesting by asking burning questions to the panel. 

It was a Student-Centred Panel Discussion where the students articulated their thoughts by presenting their opinions in front of their peers so as to enhance their speaking ability, verbal confidence and also develop higher order thinking skills that will lead them to analyse and interpret information rather than regurgitating mere facts. 

A QnA round by the audience was followed by the panel discussion where the audience pointed questions which were well-answered by the panellists. The event was concluded by a vote of thanks by the moderator-Utkarsh Verma. The event was well co-ordinated and organized under the guidance of Ms. Jyotsna Oswal-Convener.
