JIMS IIC organized Legal Lens : IPR Edition Quiz Competition on 5th March 2025.Legal Lens: IPR Edition was an engaging activity designed to test participants' knowledge, analytical skills, and strategic application of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR). Through a multi-round format, the competition ensured a progressive evaluation, beginning with fundamental concepts and advancing to real-world problem- solving.
The competition was structured into three rounds, each focusing on different aspects of IPR:
Round 1: IPR Knockout – Test Your Knowledge
This round served as a knowledge assessment through a Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)-based test. Participants answered 25 questions covering patents, trademarks, copyrights, and geographical indications within 30 minutes. Each correct answer awarded 1 point, and only the top 12 teams were selected to advance. This round helped identify individuals with a strong foundation in IPR, ensuring that only the most knowledgeable participants progressed.
Round 2: IPR Mastermind – Identify & Solve
In this round, participants engaged in an interactive challenge that tested their visual recognition, analytical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. The round consisted of two parts:
- Logo Identification – Participants analyzed 10 pairs of brand logos, distinguishing between authentic and altered versions, with 15–20 seconds allocated per pair.
- IPR Puzzles & Riddles – Teams solved 5 word-based challenges (such as anagrams and crosswords) related to IP laws and famous cases, with 2 minutes given per puzzle.
Scoring was based on accuracy, with correct answers earning +10 or +20 points, depending on the section. This round encouraged quick thinking, applied knowledge, and collaboration, while reinforcing trademark protection and IP law concepts.
Round 3: IPR Shield – Protect & Prevail
The final round focused on the practical application of IPR knowledge through real-world case scenarios. Teams analyzed and discussed 5 IPR cases, preparing solutions within 30 minutes per case, followed by a 5-minute presentation to a panel of judges. Evaluations were based on clarity, legal strategy, teamwork, and presentation skills.
This round tested participants' ability to apply legal concepts strategically, develop effective solutions, and demonstrate strong communication and collaboration
The competition not only strengthened participants’ understanding of IPR fundamentals but also enhanced their critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making abilities. By progressing from knowledge- based assessments to real-world case applications, participants gained hands-on experience in tackling IPR-related challenges.
Ultimately, the best-performing teams emerged as IPR champions, demonstrating expertise in intellectual property law, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. The competition ensured that all participants walked away with a deeper understanding of IPR and its real-world implications, making them better prepared for legal and corporate challenges in the field.
