1. Please tell us about PGDM (RM) programme and how it is different from PGDM (General) or PGDM (IB) programme at JIMS?

Curriculum: The PGDM (RM) programme explores the most contemporary and cutting edge approaches and concepts in Marketing and Retailing Management through a exceptional blend of traditional and modern modules like Digital Marketing, Ecommerce, Social Media Marketing, Luxury Retailing, Visual Merchandising to name a few. It provides comprehensive understanding of the theoretical and applied aspects of Retail and Marketing Management along with other functional areas of Finance & HR. All general management modules like Human Resource Management, Fundamentals of Management, IT, Managerial Communications, Organization Behavior etc. that are taught across PGDM (General) or PGDM (IB) are covered in addition to retail and marketing modules.

Placements: Students of PGDM (RM) are eligible to apply for all companies coming for placement at JIMS as we have a common placement activity. RM students have an advantage to apply for general as well as retail specific companies.

International Exposure:- Students of PGDM (RM) have got the golden opportunity to explore retail in other countries like Singapore/ Dubai. It will build confidence, stimulate creative though process and bring real time comparative experience of Indian & International Retail.

Emphasis on Power Dressing, Grooming & Personality Development: The objective of these modules is to enhance the self- image, dressing sense, group discussion and interview skills. In a competitive and dynamic world of today, Attitude, Personality, Grooming and Dressing are perhaps one of the most fundamental skills corporate professionals must acquire.

2. Can I only apply in Retail Companies after completing PGDM (RM)?

No. Placement is a centralised activity at the JIMS campus. Students of all three programmes are eligible to appear for general as well as retail centric companies.

3. Will placement be a separate activity for PGDM (RM) or PGDM (General) or PGDM (IB) programme?

Placement is a centralised activity at the JIMS campus. Students of all three programmes are eligible to appear for general companies. PGDM (RM) students get an edge over others as they can additionally apply in the huge pool of online and offline retail companies.

4. Will this course lead me only in a Salesman/girl job?

No. This is a specialised course which provides hands-on knowledge of Retail Industry (both Brick & Mortar and Ecommerce). If you don’t want to experience front end of Retail then you can opt for back end functions of Retail. You also have the option to go for marketing stream for your career.

5. What are the career opportunities after pursuing PGDM (RM)?

8. I like to experiment and have creative bent of mind. What options can I get after PGDM (RM)?

If you are creative then you can focus on either Visual Merchandising (creating effective displays at store level), Visual Communications (Creating innovative designs marketing collaterals and banners for Ecommerce Companies), Social Media Marketing and Digital Marketing.

9. Can I specialise in Finance and opt for Finance companies during placement?

Yes PGDM RM offers Finance Specialization in Second Year. Student can opt for Marketing or Finance after the completion of first year apart from Retail which is a compulsory specialization. After opting for finance specialization, student can opt for finance companies during placements.
