PEDAGOGY

The range of teaching and learning methods used at JIMS includes lectures, case studies and presentations on strategic and contemporary issues. Besides, participants would be involved in simulations, quizzes, assignments, business games and field projects on regular basis. A strong emphasis is laid on the use of technology in learning. Further enrichment is provided by way of guest lectures, workshops, industry visits and seminars. Frequent interactions with the business leaders, alumni and entrepreneurs are organized to provide exposure on the challenges and opportunities in the business environment

The pedagogy lays emphasis on nurturing the managerial skills through clear conceptual understanding of subjects and developing problem solving attitude. Our programme is not restricted to classroom based theoretical teaching only. It will rather encourage you to learn those theories by applying them at your workplace. The approach includes the following steps:

CASE STUDY 

The case study method serves a dual purpose of understanding a real life situation and developing analytical skills. Through active classroom discussions, the faculty discuss with the participants all the possible solutions and possible decision frameworks while bringing out the related theories.

ASSIGNMENTS AND GROUP PRESENTATIONS

For better understanding of the subjects and theories taught, participants shall be preparing assignments and making group or individual presentations in the class on the topics allocated to them

ACTION LEARNING PROJECT

As an integral part of the curriculum, students are required to work on the learning project wherein they will incorporate the learning’s acquired during two years of course in real life business problems.

CAPSTONE BUSINESS SIMULATION PROJECT

Students would be working in groups and shall apply management concepts to manage a fictitious business, through Capstone Simulation Software

MENTORING

Every student from the first year itself will be attached to a faculty mentor who guides him / her on career prospects, specialization areas, personality development and academic or personal issues. They can also have an industry mentor from their own organization. 

CASE WRITING

Every participant will be required to write and present a case study on the issues related to his / her own organization, under the guidance of a faculty mentor and the industry mentor.
