Niharika Jain: A Trailblazer in Social Impact & Women’s Empowerment

A Purpose-Driven Journey

Born and raised in India, Niharika Jain grew up witnessing the silent struggles of domestic workers—women who formed the backbone of countless households yet remained invisible in society. With a deep sense of empathy and a burning desire to drive meaningful change, she set out on a journey that would redefine dignity and empowerment for millions.

The Moment That Changed Everything

Niharika was all set to pursue an MBA at the Indian School of Business (Hyderabad) when fate intervened. She met her co-founders, who introduced her to the idea of Broomees, a platform that could revolutionize the domestic worker industry. For her, this wasn’t just a business idea—it was personal.

She had seen her own mother struggle for years to find a reliable, trustworthy house help while balancing work and family responsibilities. The problem was real, urgent, and deeply ingrained in Indian society. Instead of asking, “Will this be profitable?” Niharika asked, “Why hasn’t this been solved yet?”

She set one condition—her co-founders had to solve this issue for her own home first. And they did. Sunita Didi, the first-ever Broomees worker, joined her family that day and continues to work there even today. That was the moment Niharika knew—if she could change one household, she could change millions.

Building Broomees: From an Idea to a Movement

At just 23 years old, with no prior leadership experience, Niharika took the plunge. Broomees was born—not just as a company, but as a movement to bring dignity, structure, and financial security to an industry that had been neglected for decades.

She and her team worked relentlessly, tackling issues no one had addressed before:

  • Ensuring domestic workers were paid fairly (often 3x their previous salaries)
  • Training women in professional cleaning, cooking, and childcare
  • Providing health insurance and financial aid
  • Enforcing contracts and legal rights to prevent exploitation

Today, Broomees has:

  • Empowered 20,000+ domestic workers
  • Served thousands of working professionals who now have peace of mind
  • Created a system where dignity, not desperation, drives employment

Overcoming the Odds

The road wasn’t easy. Niharika faced skepticism—people questioned if domestic work could ever be "organized." She fought against deep-rooted biases, a highly unregulated market, and the mental burden of knowing thousands depended on her success.

But every challenge was a lesson, every obstacle an opportunity.

Like the day a domestic worker, tears streaming down her face, hugged Niharika and said, "Aap bhagwan ho humare liye"—“You are a godsend for us.” This woman, once trapped in an abusive marriage and earning meager wages, now made 3x more and had the financial freedom to walk away from toxicity.
