Workshop on " A Journey from Campus to Corporate

Jagan Institute of Management Studies organized a workshop on "Journey from Campus to Recruitment" on 6th January 2013 at its campus. The workshop was conducted under the mentorship of Prof S.C. Kapoor, Professor, JIMS.

The session was conceptualized to groom students with skills like Interpersonal Communication, Personality Development, Leadership & Team Building, Presentation Skills, Negotiating Skills;  so as to make them fit for the corporate world.

Interesting and motivating video clips were shown to the students which described the aspect of learning qualities and dedication towards work. He also emphasized it is very important to evaluate your performance regularly and be focused to achieve your aim.

The most interesting part of this workshop was the role play through which freshers were inspired by the seniors. The activity showcased a student’s commitment to work in the form of a role play. It was a situation based play where the students learnt the act of being transparent towards their mentors and their dedication towards their work. Activity described the essence that not managing your time and making excuses are two bad habits to be shun right from day one; “Do not put them together by claiming you do not have the time”. The exercise aimed at revealing the real nature of habits.

Mr. Kapoor concluded the workshop by describing the distinct difference between employment and employability. Further he added that by just earning an academic degree does not guarantee that an individual is employable. Employability requires three key levels of competency: knowledge, skills, and attitude.

Overall, the activity was fruitful and described the real essence of a student’s journey from Campus to Corporate.
