"JOINT DIWALI CELEBRATION WITH NOIDA DEAF SOCIETY"
JIMS organized a joint Diwali celebration with Noida Deaf Society (NDS) at its Sector 5, Rohini campus. NDS is a not-for-profit organization started in the year 2005 by Ms. Ruma Roka with the vision of bringing about a positive change in the lives of the deaf community. NDS's goal is to enable the complete integration of the deaf into the mainstream through specialized vocational programs leading to gainful employment.
The celebration started with lighting of the lamp by the dignitaries and Ms. Ruma Roka. Prof. R.P. Maheshwari, Director General JIMS welcomed NDS on behalf of the JIMS family and provided students with his pearls of wisdom. Dr. J.K. Goyal, our Director and Dr. Brij Mohan also welcomed the guests and stressed on the importance of providing the differently abled youth of our country an avenue to access high quality professional training and enable them to live sustainable lives with dignity. Throughout, an interpreter of sign language was present on the dais for our hearing impaired friends.
Ms. Ruma Roka then enlightened the gathering about NDS and its efforts to rehabilitate the deaf. She made everyone aware of the fact that that many students of NDS are successfully working with organizations like Café Coffee Day and ITC hotels and winning accolades for their work performances.
NDS students then entertained the gathering with some light hearted and funny mime skits and a dance performance. Students from PGDM batch 2009-11 played a balloon game with our friends from NDS which everyone enjoyed thoroughly. The program ended with gift distribution followed by lunch.
