The speakers agreed to the point that recession is not a blessing in disguise to lay off employees & that retrenchment is certainly not a policy which the organizations follow. Practices like transfer to other departments / jobs or reployment received much support. Workforce is the supreme asset of any organization & fair treatment of employees is only acceptable. But those employees who do not show results are surely said off. The crux of the discussion was that "The times are tough & performance is the supreme measure of growth".
