Field Visit to Fabric Retailers and Wholesalers in Nehru Place Market - PGDM-RM(2013-15)
The field visit to fabric retailers and wholesalers at Nehru Place market was organised for PGDM-Retail Management students. The visit was arranged to introduce students to the hub of fabric traders. This research played a key part in knowing what materials are available with varied price range. Also, students got hands-on experience to identify the fabric composition which is very important for a Merchandiser dealing in textile products. Students collected swatches of different fabrics with price range (production and sample cost) and networked with fabric dealers. They also learnt to identify varied fabric qualities, dyes, finishes, patterns etc. Students are required to compile the above data in the form of swatch/contact file and a brief report on overall experience of research. The visit was conducted under the supervision of Mr. Ankit Sharma, co-founder of brand Threesome and Visiting Faculty for Merchandise Knowledge. Overall, it was enlightening and informative activity and students gained the practical exposure of fabric market.
