CORPORATE CHECKMATE @ JIMS

Jagan Institute of Management Studies organized Corporate Checkmate on “Business Strategies cannot be cut, copied and pasted” on 6th September, 2014 for its PGDM, PGDM –IB and PGDM -RM Batch 2013-2015 students. The key resource persons of the session were Mr. Amitabh Sen Gupta, Director -Business Development, TechMahindra; Mr. Pradeep Mathur, Founder, ilearn2trade; Mr. Sarvesh Goorha, President, SOPSGroup and Mr. Sandeep Mann, Management Consultant, Member- Advisory Board,  IFC.

The session started with welcome speech of Dr. J. K. Goyal, Director, JIMS where he welcomed the key note speakers and introduced JIMS to the guests. Further, Mr. Cherian George, Head-Placements, JIMS invited the panel speakers to address the students.

Mr. Sen speaking on the topic said “be it a small business or a huge venture; both require lot of competing reasons and a big strategy always goes beyond cutting and pasting”. Further, he highlighted, starting a venture is one of the best lifestyles you can have if you’re up for putting yourself on the knife’s edge and it definitely teaches you quickly. Not too many people should walk into it as it demands a lot of hard work and skill sets; only those open to challenges should step forward. So it becomes pivotal for everyone to know his interest; explore his potential and then plan a career.

Mr. Pradeep Mathur, Founder, ilearn2trade coined the thought that most important is evaluating the business requirements and then adopting the business strategies that increases sustainability. Business Strategies must be tailored depending on the needs of the business, understanding the market forces and including an assessment of the company’s footprint. 

Mr. Sarvesh Goorha, President, SOPS Group and Mr. Sandeep Mann, Management Consultant, Member- Advisory Board, IFC added “in addition to above it is important to understand the role of government and the new legislations that come into action”. Mr. Mann also highlighted the challenges faced while designing business strategies - opportunity to reduce costs, increasing profitability as well as limiting damage to the environment, responding to the need for change and continuing to adopt new strategies to increase business sustainability in the long term.

The JIMS students had open-house discussions with the panel speakers and Ms. Neha Goyal, CRMC, JIMS extended the vote of thanks to the esteemed guests, student coordinators, staff and faculty.

It was an excellent platform for the students as they were guided by the industry experts and business leaders. Overall it was a great interactive and a learning experience for the students.
