10th Annual IT Symposium - TechBYTE-2013 on the topic “Evolving Paradigms in Computing Technology”

The day-long proceedings began with the Symposium inauguration. The chief guest Mr. CSR Prabhu, Deputy Director General, NIC ,The key note speaker Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Editor The Financial Express B2B  were extended a warm welcome by Dr. J K Goyal (Director, JIMS). Dr. Praveen Arora, HOD (IT Department), threw the conference open by giving an introduction to the theme of conference. The chief guest and key note speaker also shared their views on the Symposium theme. This was followed by the release of the Insight Magazine by Mr. CSR Prabhu, Deputy Director General, NIC, Mr. Sanjay Gupta, Editor The Financial Express B2B ,Dr. J K Goyal (Director, JIMS), Dr. Praveen Arora, HOD (IT Department),Ms. Suman Madan(Convener, Associate Professor, JIMS) to a huge applause. Ms. Manjot Bhatia (Associate Professor, JIMS) extended a vote of thanks to all guests and experts in inaugural.

The key resource person for the technical session-I was:
  • Mr. Alok Jain, Master Principal Enterprise Architect-ORACLE.
  • Mr. Manish Pandey, Senior Windows Administrator, ADOBE.
  • Mr. Ritesh Chopra, Country Sales Manager, Consumer Products & Solution, SYMANTEC CORPORATION.
The session was hosted by Ms. Manjot Bhatia, Asst. Prof (IT), JIMS. The first speaker of the session was Mr. Ritesh Chopra and the points discussed by the speaker were

Technical aspects of security.
  • Changing trends in security.
  • Threats landscape, security in mobiles.
  • Trends in Indian statistics for viruses Vs malware.
  • Differences between real and virtual world.
The second speaker of the session was Mr. Alok Jain and the points discussed by the speaker were
Basic Concepts of Cloud computing.
  • Characteristics of cloud provider and cloud consumer.
  • Differences between public and private cloud.
  • The third speaker of the session was Mr. Manish Pandey and the points discussed by the speaker were
  • Benefits of cloud computing.
  • Cloud service models.
The Question and Answer for the overall  technical session –I comprised of the following questions
  • What is DMG?
  • Examples of Public and private cloud?
  • Ways to have Intrusion Detection?
The session was coordinated by Ms. Manjot Bhatia along with InfoTech faculty team. Overall, it was an enormous learning experience as all the audience took great interest in the event and enhanced their knowledge about upcoming IT fields.

Renowned personalities from the IT Industry graced the event with their presence in second technical session. The Second Technical Session was led by Mr. Abhilesh Guleria, Country Head-IT Platform & Display Solutions Business, NEC, with 10+ Years of Industry Experience. He nourished the audience about role of information technology in education, starting with the difference between IT digitization and traditional trends of data usage; he also covered the aspects of usage of ICT in detail. He then explained security challenges, Risk and  FRS(Facial Recognition System) for security during his talk.

The next talk in the Session began by Mr. Gurnek Singh Thiara, Manager Pre Sales, ZyXEL Technology. He started with the essential components of term “Internet Access Solutions” followed by the service & deployment models to implement the voice, data, internet and video into one platform. Mr. Gurnek Singh Thiara then continued his presentation with future of Internet Technology in India with use of fiber technology deployment.

Further the session was taken by Cdr. Sukumar Pillai, Scientist of ‘G level’ in DRDO. Cdr. Pillai spoke about how software intensive systems are deployed in Combat Management by our Country. He discussed about the distributed defense systems (DDS) as the upcoming technology.

At the end, he discussed how various Global Navigation systems work.  He made his session very interactive and showed very attractive video illustrating the hugely expanding area of Combat Management. The symposium was coordinated by Ms. C. Komalavilli along with InfoTech faculty team. Overall, it was an enormous learning experience as all the audience took great interest in the event and enhanced their knowledge about upcoming IT fields.

The third technical session starts with Mr.  S.P Arya Chief Information officer. AMITEK. He presented a knowledgeable session on ERP (Enterprise resource planning) solutions. He explained how ERP is important now days for every growing organization. ERP system integrates software solutions that support the integration of all information flows leading to organizational changes. Mr. Arya gave some amazing examples how ERP helps the businesses to increase their revenues.

The second speaker was Mr. Sharad Srivastava founder and managing director of RESTOR. He took very fascinating topic ie future of hard drives. Mr. Sharad discussed the evolution of hard drives from 8inch hard drive to 1 inch hard drive. He gave an insight why hard disk is becoming important component in the efficiency of overall computer system.

The third speaker was Mr. Syed Aamir Naqvi, Associate test lead Xavient Technologies. Mr. Sayed’s presentation topic was very practical i.e. Automated Testing. He explained the difference between manual testing and automated testing. He wonderfully explained different tools of automotive testing with examples. The most appreciable part was he gave an insight of career options in testing

This session was coordinated by Ms. Suman Madan. Overall, it was an enormous learning experience as all the audience took great interest in the event and enhanced their knowledge about upcoming IT fields.
