Workshop on "Campus to Corporate" - PGDM Batch 2014-2016


Workshop on ‘Campus to Corporate’ organized by JIMS HR Club.
A workshop was organized by HR club, JIMS, Rohini, on July 19, 2014 in campus premises for newly inducted PGDM -General and PGDM -Retail students on the theme,“Campus to Corporate.”The workshopwas aimed at giving practical exposure to the young budding managers of future to the challenges they will face in building their competence with confidence to meet the expectation of the Corporate.

The key resource person of the event was Prof. Subhash C. Kapoor. The workshop was an eclectic mix of knowledge, skills, valuable stories, live examples, experience sharing and interaction with audience.


The event started with a program overview given by MsPratimaDaipuria, Associate Professor, JIMS and HR Club Coordinator. She told the students about the challenges that one has to face in the corporate world and the evolution, transition and metamorphosis of a management student to fit corporate life.

Prof Kapoor initiated the session by delving deep and made students realise that military like precision, attentiveness and determination is required to succeed in life. He kept the students engaged through stories, anecdotes and various games and activities.Theseinteresting activities kept everyone quite engrossed, not just they being activities but a complete pool of knowledge.Videos and clippings also gave an insight on management philosophies. Clipping from one of the old film song 'ae bhaizaradekhkechalo' was shown from which students learned numerous important lessons like one should never give up, team work, awareness, dedication, multitasking and many more which are required for growth and survival in a corporate world.


There were lot of activities to engage the students s such as dead body activity which gave the message that one should observe holistically. Other activities like the balloon activity proved that the outcome is more important than the process in any event. Also one should think of a strategy before acting.

Throughout the day there were many people to share their own experience.Mr Bharat Chhabra, AGM, HR,
Learning & Development Function at Centre for Power Efficiency In Distribution (CENPIED), Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limitedfocussed on concepts like passion and competence building. He also emphasised the gap between theory and practice and ways to handle the gap. JIMSAlumnus Mr. AnkurAggarwal was one of them. His delibetations revolved on strengthening the success triangle which is a  combination of attitude,knowledge and skill(KSA). He called the students to grab all the opportunities to reach great heights with a constant quest to learn and excel.Ms Anjali Singh, AM-HR, Grand Hyatt, also JIMS alumnus shared her experiences of service industry.

Post lunch session was handle by Mr. Sumit Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director TMBRA {P} Ltd , also associated with JIMS and he apprised the students on the significance of effective communication. He drew incidents from Mahabharata and correlated it with modern management.


The entire workshop turned out to be a huge success and the takeways from the workshop will stay with the students forever.
